MINERÍA la mejor puerta de acceso al sector minero MINERÍA / FEBRERO 2023 / EDICIÓN 545 49 Abstract Shahuindo unit is a gold and silver mine of the Canadian corporation Pan American Silver, being one of the operations in Peru with good safety, environmental and production performance. The processing consists of heap leaching (ROM), ADR (Adsorption-Desorption-Regeneration) and refinery stages, where 36,000 tpd are currently being processed, having had an average annual production of 146 Koz Au and 218 Koz Ag in the last three years. Since February 2019, when Pan American Silver acquired the Shahuindo mine, several works have been carried out in the leaching pads (1A, 2A and 2C), in order to improve the operation and increase recovery. The first pad of Shahuindo (1A) started operating in November 2015, stacking ore until April 2017, where after ceasing to stack fresh ore, irrigation continued, performing re-leaching works in order to extract the remaining inventory, ending in July 2018, and then having a second stage of re-leaching from December 2020 to June 2021. Since after two re-leaching stages there were no economic gold values, by the end of 2021 Shahuindo Mining contacted Jex Technologies Corporation (JTC) to start a pilot test with pressure cyanide injection in order to recover the latent inventory of Au and Ag in one third of pad 1A, to increase the stability of the pad through the removal of trapped solutions, and to prepare for the final closure. This paper will present the methodology used for the injection of cyanide under pressure in pad 1A, which includes studies on the conditions of the facility, drilling of injection and monitoring boreholes, metallurgical tests, injection of cyanide under pressure, geotechnical monitoring of the injection and, finally, the corresponding rinses. Finally, the results obtained from the ounces of gold and silver recovered from this pilot test and future plans for this work will be presented. El inicio de la operación del primer pad de Shahuindo: 1A, fue en noviembre de 2015 apilando mineral hasta abril de 2017, en donde luego de dejar de apilar mineral fresco se continuó regando, realizando trabajos de relixiviación con la finalidad de extraer el inventario remanente finalizando esto en julio de 2018, para luego tener una segunda etapa de relixiviación desde diciembre de 2020 hasta junio de 2021. Debido a que luego de las dos etapas de relixiviación no salían ya valores económicos de oro, para finales de 2021 minera Shahuindo contacto a la empresa Jex Technologies Corporation (JTC), con el fin que inicie una prueba piloto realizando la inyección de cianuro a presión, esto con los objetivos de recuperar el inventario latente de Au y Ag en una tercera parte del pad 1A, de incrementar la estabilidad del pad a través del retiro de soluciones atrapadas, así como de ir preparando el cierre final.
