Abstract

The Quellaveco mine, located in Moquegua, Peru, represents one of the most advanced mining projects in Latin America in terms of the implementation of autonomous technologies. This paper analyzes the impact of autonomous haul trucks on operational efficiency and workplace safety within the mine. 

Through a technical review, data analysis, case studies, and discussion of results, it demonstrates how automation has transformed productivity, reduced human-related risks, and optimized operating costs. The paper also addresses the technical and social challenges associated with this transformation and proposes recommendations for sustainable implementation.
