Sustainable development is not only technical but also human: it requires changing habits, fostering collaboration, and assuming shared responsibilities. At Minera Las Bambas, the digital transformation toward a smart mine by 2030 demonstrates that success lies not only in technology, but also in support and change management to ensure effective adoption by people. Since 2022, it has been observed that projects incorporating change management strategies achieve higher adoption rates, less resistance, and better outcomes. The initiative aligns with the SDGs and ESG criteria, promoting education, sustainable innovation, inclusion, and responsible governance. Finally, a replicable model is proposed, highlighting the importance of preparing people to achieve effective and sustainable digital transformation.
