Abstract

Innovative companies or those that implement innovation as part of their strategic objectives grow faster and more profitably than those that do not have an innovative process or culture. In the mining industry, innovation is essential to face a complex environment marked by uncertainty, but incorporating it as part of its development strategy is not easy.

Using the innovation strategy of Newmont Yanacocha mining company as a reference, it was possible to identify the principles that should guide innovation, as well as the process to be followed to ensure the transformation of innovation ideas into viable solutions in the organization. Finally, some examples of innovations in the mining industry used in the case study are presented.
