A NEW CLEANUP TECHNOLOGY: COMPREHENSIVE REMEDIATION TREATMENT OF MINING ASSETS AND ENVIRONMENTAL LIABILITIES WITH EMPHASIS ON T

Por: Silvana Flores Chávez, Edison Zegarra Luna y Jorge Del Carpio, Green Metallurgy Technologies.

Abstract

This research is based on the technical-scientific support of the technological innovation project for the mining productive sector called: "Development and validation of a clean technology for the integral treatment of neutralization of effluents and metallurgical tailings based on the use of calcareous agents", which was co-financed by Innóvate Perú of the Ministry of Production and Green Metallurgy Technologies, which is a technical solution for metallurgical re-treatment and remediation and/or decontamination of mining assets and mining environmental liabilities, mainly tailings dams in the country, which have a negative impact, causing contamination of natural resources in bodies of water and soil in the areas of influence in the mining communities of Peru and the world.

In this regard, the project proposes the use of a technological kit of eight green patents called: "Clean technology for the integral remediation treatment of effluents and metallurgical tailings based on the use of remediating agents", which are innovations that provide an active chemical remediation treatment of effluents and tailings based on the use of remediating agents in order to achieve the reduction of high concentrations of heavy metal ions dissolved in the effluents to values below the maximum allowable limits as per the S. D. No. 010- 2010-MINAM, which indicates an improvement in the quality of the "treated effluent" and ensures its reuse in metallurgical processes, in irrigation water for agricultural activity according to the environmental water quality standard.

Likewise, they consist of a tailings remediation treatment, which achieves the maximum reduction of the concentration of inorganic parameters (heavy metals) such as: barium, cadmium, mercury and lead; each of which are indicators of the environmental quality standard of the soil, according to the environmental regulations for extractive soil of the Ministry of Environment for its transformation into inputs for the civil industry such as: concrete aggregates and ecotechnological bricks and the construction of ecological houses , which are eco-friendly products whose production process allows them to meet the standards required by Climate-Smart Mining (World Bank, 2019).
