The evidence collected allows a precise chronological placement of the occupation in this sector between 620 and 780 AD. We also analyze the geomorphology associated with human occupation, including the alluvial events associated with its abandonment. Finally, we analyze a pollen column that suggests a semi-arid ecosystem altered by the Maranga settlement.* Latin American Antiquity 32(3), 2021, pp. 655–661. Copyright © The Author(s), 2021.
