This is so, given that we are in the midst of an interconnected and fully globalized world; a world in which we are seeking to standardize uses, standards and commercial techniques that allow us to exploit all the benefits of digital technology. This is how, today, more than one industry and institution in the world is resorting to AI to speed up industrial processes; the latter, by resorting to the precision, sharpness and full automation provided by this simply amazing tool. Even those who have misgivings and reservations about this technology, or those who are more skeptical, cannot deny that it is evident that AI has benefits and efficiencies that make it stand out from other technologies. The accelerated pace of economic growth in a country like Peru, which has been significant in the last 20 years, makes it imperative to develop Industry 4.0 systems to add speed, effectiveness and efficiency in the different economic activities, among others. At this point, you may wonder what should we understand by Industry 4.0 (Fourth Industrial Revolution)? And why we should aim to migrate our industrial processes and standardize them around automated AI.The Fourth Industrial Revolution was first alluded to by Professor Klaus Schwab, who founded the World Economic Forum. Industry 4.0 marks the origin of a new disruptive current, known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which seeks to integrate traditional production techniques with intelligent systems combined with organizations and people. However, it is not just about smart, connected systems. Its scope is broader, ranging from genetic sequencing, artificial intelligence, internet of things, nanotechnology to renewable energy and quantum computing. It is the union of these new technologies and their interaction, through physical, digital and biological aspects, that makes the Fourth Industrial Revolution very different and unprecedented with respect to the others. But it was not until 2014 that the industry reached an astonishing level of technification and optimization. It is at this point that the so-called smart factories and online production management are emerging. At this point, and with the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution, we believe it is appropriate to reproduce the words of the pioneer of this revolution, Klaus Schwab, who in his book: The Fourth Industrial Revolution, said: “We are at the beginning of a revolution that is fundamentally changing the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope and complexity, what I consider to be the fourth industrial revolution is unlike anything humankind has experienced before."
