A mining company, in order to remain over time with high quality and productivity standards, needs to include first-level professional examinations in its efforts. In Peru, that is the case of Compania de Minas Buenaventura, founded by Mr. Alberto Benavides de la Quintana, whose vice president of Business Development is Eng. Raul Benavides Ganoza, Minero Notable (Notable Miner), who with talent and versatility has shown that world-class mining can also be implemented in our country as a strategic development partner in the most remote areas. Born in Lima on March 7 1956, he studied primary education at Inmaculado Corazon school and secondary education at Santa Maria Marianistas school. His father believed that he would receive proper education not only in science but also, and above all, in improving his English language skills, which he considered to be essential. Later, he studied mining engineering, not only persuaded by the intense activity of Mr. Alberto, but because he enjoyed to go with him on his trips to the Sierra, covering large areas looking for new mineral deposits. "What I really love is geology and engineering, so for me, it was very clear I would study mining engineering," he firmly says.He then entered the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), where he studied for a while until completing his studies in 1980 at the University of Missouri, Rolla, now known as the Missouri University of Science and Technology, in the USA.
